Refunds
If the performance is cancelled by the venue for any reason or if the performance is interrupted and does not continue, full refunds will be issued. 

 

Re-sales

We not not accept unwanted returned tickets and we do not operate a waiting list. 

 

Under 18s

People of all ages are welcome at Stapleford Granary.

Children's shows are usually suitable for age 4+ (please see individual listings for guidance).

Our daytime outdoor courtyard concerts are suitable for families with children of all ages.

Children aged 5 years and over, accompanied and supervised by an adult, are very welcome at all our concerts. 

 

Indoor concerts (classical, folk, jazz, poetry)

  • For information about access please see below
  • Please turn off your mobile phone; it can be distracting to the performers and those around you.
  • Filming and photography are prohibited during the performance. As well as causing a potential distraction for the performers, it can obstruct the view of the people in the surrounding seats.
  • No food is permitted in the concert hall. Drinks may be taken into folk and jazz concerts, but not classical concerts (it can be disruptive to performers if drinks are spilled)
  • We operate a ‘no standing’ policy. Audience members are asked to remain seated for the duration of the performance to avoid disrupting the concert and other audience members. 
  • If you need to leave the concert hall, please wait for applause (if possible). A member of the front of house team will assist you, and allow you to re-enter the concert hall at an appropriate moment.
  • Our seats are unreserved, but we will reserve seats for Blue Badge holders (Blue Badge holders are contacted before the concert to discuss their access needs). Audience members are kindly asked not to put bags and coats on seats to reserve them. Concert hall doors open 30 minutes before the concert starts.
  • Children over the age of 5 are welcome to attend our evening or Sunday afternoon concerts, but please note that these concerts are not specifically designed with young children in mind.

 

DOGS

Dogs are not permitted on site for indoor or outdoor events except for guide dogs and hearing dogs.

 

ACCESS

Accessible parking spaces are located either at the front of the building or in the courtyard. We have step-free access and plentiful seating. A lift is available for access to the concert hall and gallery spaces. Please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions about specific access needs - we will be happy to help. Visitors are welcome to view the concert hall before booking - please ask a member of staff. 

 

For concerts and events:

  • Carer tickets: we offer free concert tickets to paid carers who accompany audience members who require assistance. Please phone to enquire. 

  • All Blue Badge holders are able to reserve parking spaces for concerts. A dedicated marshal assists Blue Badge holders on arrival. 
  • All Blue Badge holders are offered their choice of personal reserved seating in the concert hall. Each Blue Badge holder receives a personal email or phone call during the week before the concert to discuss their individual access needs. 
  • Our seating layouts are disability-compliant, prioritising accessible routes, adequate maneuvering space, and the integration of accessible seats in the hall. Step access to the stage area is provided. Some seats have fixed armrests and we will often move chairs or provide extra padded seats on request. 
  • Audibility: a detailed explanation of our sound system (prepared in consultation with an RNID specialist) is provided below. 
  • Quiet rooms are provided and signposted for busy events (eg outdoor concerts)

  

Information for hearing impaired persons

There are no 'bad listening positions' in the concert hall for hearing or hearing impaired persons. The pickup system in modern hearing aids should therefore work well for hearing aid users no matter where you are sitting in the hall.

 

We do not use a loop system for our concerts. The reasons for this are as follows:

  • We hold a wide variety of concerts in the concert hall, some of which use no amplification (microphones) at all, through to those in which every instrument and voice has a microphone. As such, there is no 'one size fits all' method of picking up a signal to feed an induction loop system.
  • Loop systems generally don’t work well with live music; they are easily overloaded (distorted) by high level signals and are audio frequency limited due to the nature of the transmission method.
  • Loop systems can often interfere with guitar and bass pickups and amplifiers and sometimes with other instrument microphones as well. In many venues, because of this, the loop systems need to be turned off altogether for concerts.
  • For live music, the sound mix required for a loop system is different from the mix required for the loudspeakers and can't be continually monitored throughout the concert and adjusted to ensure the best possible loop signal.
  • Some modern hearing aids are either not equipped with the telecoil required for loop pickup or don’t have that feature enabled by default. 

 

We are aware of the new Bluetooth technology implementation for hearing aids called Auracast which is an alternative to loop systems. Whilst many/most hearing aids have control of function over Bluetooth or the ability to listen to music from a phone over Bluetooth, most still don’t have Auracast capability. The Auracast transmitters still pose the same challenges for live music in working out what to send to the transmitter.  Bluetooth works in the same radio frequency space as wifi so this can cause reception problems.
