The Granary cafe is an independent coffee shop, wholly owned and run by Stapleford Granary. Nestled in the heart of our historic Arts Centre, the cafe is a much-loved social hub of the community; a place to meet, escape, refuel and relax. We have four seating areas; choose from the bustling ground floor, a spacious galley-foyer, a cosy first floor hideaway, or outside on the terrace. We also have a small sheltered seating area at the front of the site for visitors with dogs.
We serve the finest Butterworth's coffee, teas and cold drinks; alongside a concise range of freshly prepared food items. Our popular breakfasts include the Granary's own Granola Bowl (with a vegan option) and freshly baked pastries. For lunch, we serve our own toasties, salads, soups and a selection of deep-filled savoury tarts. And we always have a superb range of cakes (including GF options), mouthwateringly good tray bakes and scones.
Our dedicated team of baristas will always offer a smile, a warm welcome and a commitment to serving great coffee and thoughtfully-sourced, well-prepared food throughout the day.
Please note that the cafe does not operate a table reservation system.
We stop serving hot food 45 minutes before closing each day.

ORCHARD OPEN JUNE, JULY, AUGUST
Tucked away at the back of the Granary, overlooking the brook and fen, is a small orchard with a big history. Dating back to the 1930s, the fruit grown here was eaten at High Table at Corpus Christi College and used for jam-making by the famous Chivers & Sons!
Our lovely old orchard is now open to all our visitors (on dry days). Pull out a rug, take a seat at our picnic benches and enjoy coffee, cold drinks, cakes and ice cream from our beautifully restored horsebox.
- Open on dry days in June, July & August (except Wednesdays) from 10:00am - 3:00pm
- Please note that the water in the brook can be deep and whilst the main area has a protective fence, children must be supervised at all times
- Please enter the Orchard via the Stable Block. A path of reinforced matting (covered with very fine gravel) makes this entrance accessible for buggies and wheelchairs
- There are toilets and baby changing facilities by the Orchard

Is the café and orchard fully accessible?
Yes, the whole site is fully accessible and we have blue badge parking spaces at the front of the building
Are you dog friendly?
We have a small dog friendly area at the front of the cafe with outdoor seating.
In common with the majority of galleries and arts centres, dog are not allowed inside the building. Guide dogs and hearing dogs are permitted inside the Granary and in the courtyard at the back of the site.
Dogs are not permitted in the Orchard.
Is it possible to reserve a table?
We don't take table reservations, but the generous seating areas ensure that visitors can usually find a table without problem. We kindly ask visitors not to move tables themselves to create larger seating areas. If you wish to move a table, please ask the cafe team. For large gatherings, please note that a private room booking may be required to ensure the main cafe remains accessible for all our guests. Do you have parking on site?
We have limited parking on site including blue badge spaces. Parking is free.
Is there somewhere to leave my bike?
Yes - we have cycle racks at the front of the site.
Can anyone visit the café or is it only for people going to concerts and events?
Anyone can visit the café. It opens up into our exhibition spaces, which are freely open to everyone.
What food options do you offer for people with dietary requirements?
We aim to provide a wide variety of options to suit all dietary needs. Many of our dishes that include bread can be made gluten-free using our high-quality gluten-free bread, and several items can be adapted for dairy-free diets as well. Please speak to a member of our team about your requirements or any allergens. They’ll be happy to advise you on suitable options and ensure our kitchen staff are informed.
