Jean-Michel Damase  -  Trio for Flute Viola & Harp (1952)

This extraordinary sounding, newly formed trio quickly embarked on a CD recording of the music of Jean-Michel Damase at Air Studios London. Alongside the two best-known works for this combination (Debussy and Damase) their programme includes a thrilling arrangement of Prokoviev's Romeo & Juliet Suite and a commission from film composer and orchestrator John Ashton Thomas.

All three performers are highly sought-after recitalists, chamber and orchestral musicians, recording artists and soloists.  Anna has broadcast recitals for BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM and works as Guest Principal Flute with the LPO, Philharmonia, RPO and ENO. Bob is principal viola with the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, with whom he often performs as a soloist. As a member of the ASMF chamber ensemble and the Pro Arte Piano Quartet, he has performed, broadcast and recorded all over the world.  Hugh was principal harp of the Philharmonia Orchestra and now freelances as guest principal of the major London orchestras.  His recordings include Bax’s Concerto for Flute, Oboe and Harp with the ASMITF (Chandos), Bach Flute Sonatas (Guild), Villalobos’ Quartet (Clarinet Classics), Bax’s Fantasy Sonata (Koch International) and the complete Spohr Violin and Harp Sonatas (Naxos).
