'it’s the collective determination to produce musical excitement and audience-involving momentum

that makes Ímar click wholeheartedly'

The Herald

Glasgow-based five-piece Ímar are a stellar line-up of current and former members of Mànran, RURA, Talisk, Barrule, Cara, Mabon, Mec Lir and The Lowground. Their collective haul of heavyweight trophies includes multiple BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, BBC Young Folk Musician winners and 17 All-Britain/All-Ireland titles. Despite the Glasgow base, all musicians share a strong background in Irish music dating back to their camaraderie around Glasgow’s celebrated session scene and it is this traditional Irish influence which underpins Ímar’s distinctive sound.
