'Creative brilliance' - Jazzwise Magazine
Acclaimed vibraphone soloist Nat Steele brings his all-star quartet to the Granary. The band will play a selection of swinging standards, bebop tunes and hard-bop arrangements, recreating the sound of a bygone era for a modern audience.
Nat has worked with some of the finest jazz stars, including multi award winning Dave Newton and Leon Green, Grammy winner Alan Broadbent and Sara Dowling. In 2017 he launched his debut album, Portrait of the Modern Jazz Quartet on Trio Records, awarded Jazz Album of the Month by BBC Music Magazine and a plethora of positive reviews in the jazz press, including 4 stars in The Observer and Jazzwise Magazine. He is a founder member of the Nat Steele/Mark Crooks Sextet, celebrating the music of Stan Getz and Cal Tjader, and has recently recorded two new albums to be released later this year.
Joining Nat are pianist Rob Barron, highly regarded for his improvisational flair, renowned drummer Mark Taylor (who has played with virtually every jazz musician of note in a 40 year career), and Jeremy Brown, bassist in the BBC Big Band and the John Wilson Orchestra.
