Rowan Rheingans, Anna Rheingans
'Experimental and brave and genuinely magical' — Trad Folk
'A radical leap' — The Guardian
The Rheingans Sisters are one of the most visionary and adventurous acts on the British folk scene. BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winners for Best Original Track and nominees for Best Band, they create a sound that is unmistakably their own, weaving fiddles, voices, feet, banjos, electric guitar, synths and the deep, resonant bass drones of the medieval tambourin à cordes into something restless, joyful and utterly unique.
Their acclaimed 2024 album, Start Close In, reached No. 2 in The Guardian’s Top 10 Folk Albums of 2024. It earned widespread praise for its fearless approach to contemporary folk, combining ancient songs and traditional fiddle tunes with dance beats, improvisation and electronics. Expect an evening filled with curiosity, energy and a genuine spirit of adventure, including a return of the haunting award-winning Mackerel alongside the timeless beauty of old classics like October Song.
